VOLUNTARY WASTEWATER ANALYST CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

 

 

 

 

Qualifications for the laboratory exam are as follows:

 

                  Class                    Education                       Experience

 

                  I                          High School or GED           1 Yr. (2080 HRS)

 

                  II                         High School or GED           3 Yr. (6240 HRS)

 

                  III                        High School plus 900 Hrs.    4 Yr. (8320 HRS)

                                             Training/education

 

                  IV                        High School plus 1800 Hrs.   4 Yr. (8320 HRS)

                                             Training/education

 

Education (degree) on Class III and IV levels must be in sciences related to the water pollution control profession.

 

Experience must be actual hands-on experience in a water pollution control laboratory.

Wastewater laboratory Analyst "Need-to-Know" Summary             

 

The exam will cover knowledge in the following areas:

 

General knowledge, safety, quality control/quality assurance, lab apparatus, reagents, techniques, expression of results, math, collection, preservation and handling of samples, basic sciences, and compliance with rules and regulations.

 

Questions on specific analyses will include general knowledge, procedures, principles, calculations, chemistry, instrumentation, sampling, interferences and interpretation of results.
